TITLE:    TRUTH AND LIES GAME

GRADE LEVEL:     Elementary through High School

OVERVIEW: This is a fun, get-acquainted activity. Used in the
beginning of the school year, during a class party, or at the
end of the year.

PURPOSE: Activity to learn more about all class members.

OBJECTIVES: As a result of this activity, the students will:

1. Have fun: it's a sanctioned time to "lie" about themselves.

2. Learn things about each other (and the teacher) they might
not normally learn.

RESOURCES/MATERIALS:
1. Index cards
2. Creativity
3. A sense of humor

ACTIVITIES AND PROCEDURES:
1. Pass out index cards.

2. Instruct students to write three statements about themselves. One
must be a true statement. The other two must be untrue. (The more
outrageous all three statements are, the better. Encourage students to
think of odd information about themselves that no one would be able to
know if it were true or false.)

3. Have either the student or a group leader read off the card. After all
three statements have been read, have the students vote on which
statement they believe to be true. Then have the student in question reveal
the truthful statement.
