Marian Faye Fowler

"Project Chinark" is a year long program designed for second graders to gain a better understanding and knowledge of the country of China, its people, land, culture, government, and food. This goal will be accomplished through "China Fridays" where each Friday is devoted to one of eight particular topics to be studied in depth across the curriculum with added help given by Professor Weishu Hsu of Beijing's Museum of Natural History and an "adopted" Chinese primary school. A team of Chinark teachers will visit China and the adopted school in the summer. While there, they will make videos to accompany the curriculum guides which will be placed in the educational cooperatives to be used by Arkansas teachers. (1994)

Patricia L. Hesse

The "Children Learn to Read by Reading-Writing" demonstration program will provide teachers and administrators the opportunity to receive hands-on training with students, view equipment and materials used, and to learn how to set up a similar program in their districts. (1991)

Hugh W. Hill, Jr.

"Aerospace-Our Future" is a staff development program which incorporates lectures, field trips, and hands-on activities in the field of aerospace. Teachers will have the opportunity to learn aviation basics, planetary science, model rocketry, and principles of flight. (1992)

Susan Matthews Jones

"Visual and Tactile Memory Aids to Enhance the Acquisition of Reading and Math Skills" will provide a sabbatical for statewide travel to share this program which introduces visual, tactile, and story association memory aids into reading and math instruction. (1990)
