The "Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Resource Center" will be
established and equipped with the latest educational technologies,
including video equipment and hardware and kits. Elementary school
teachers and students will be provided with STS training and a student
cadre will be established. Inservice training for teachers is also

The "1860 Colorado River Mining Community Model" will provide an authentic
hands-on experience in Arizona history by constructing and equipping a
riverboat community and an Arizona Indian village. (1990)
"The Arizona Experience" project is designed to incorporate across the
board education with a strong science base. It centers on a 20' replica
of an 1860 Colorado River Paddlewheel Boat, the Mojave, includes an 1860
mining camp, and an Indian council site complete with several types of
Indian homes, gardens and even a real buffalo hide. (1994)

"Project Grand Canyon" is an 8th grade thematic unit designed to integrate
a hands-on multi-subject project encompassing science, English, reading,
math and social studies, including elective art and shop classes. Project
Grand Canyon is an outdoor classroom consisting of a layered wall depicting
the Grand Canyon, three archeological dig sites, and the Colorado River.
Students are given the opportunity to study rock layers and geological land
forms. Additionally, students study the Colorado River, erosion, weathering,
archaeology as well as actually completing a dig within the site. (1992)
