The "Midwest Astronomy Consortium" is an innovative project that
involves a STARLAB portable planetarium system and provides inservice
to teachers and community members for the ten rural schools of the
Platte Valley Conference. The planetarium, ten projection cylinders
and curriculum materials are available to each school in the conference
for a minimum of three weeks during each school year. During this time,
the planetarium is also available to the community for use with youth
groups. It is also available for use during the summer as long as a
trained participant is available. (1993)

The "Library Technology Reaching Out to Classrooms" project allows
teachers and students to access the library's online catalog and some
full text databases from their classrooms. The project will continue
to expand, adding more computers to the 25 currently networked,
eventually allowing access to the Internet. Tech prep, learning
disabled, and special education classrooms received their first computers
and are learning new skills in the use of technology. (1994)

The "Oscars in the Classroom" project is an innovative program designed
to teach space, amateur radio, and geography. Oscars(Orbiting Satellite
Carrying Amateur Radios) provided the funds to set up a miniature NASA
Mission Control station known as a ham shack in the 3rd grade classroom.
Amateur radios allowed students to become the first students in MO to make
contact and speak with the astronauts aboard the STS-58 Columbia while they
orbited above in space. HAM/BONE classes for teachers and community members
and teacher workshops are featured. (1993)

The "Global Education in the Age of Technology" project focuses on
implementing an interactive technology lab that will provide an
instruction system combining videodisc and computer technology.
Students will exchange information worldwide through a
telecommunications system. (1991)
