Robert C. Boehmer

The "Voyage of the Blake" project promotes scientific literacy through curriculum reform and an enriched interactive multimedia technology-based learning environment. For the students, "Blake" will provide realistic and simulated hands-on experience with mechanical, electronic, and optical tools and devices used in scientific space endeavors. (1994)

Francis A. Collins

The project "Imaging the Future: Integrating Mathematics and Science Using Image Processing (the manipulation and analysis of scientific information represented as images on computers)" helps students develop critical thinking and hands-on problem solving skills. Students are brought to the frontiers of current research as active participants doing science, rather than passive receptors of facts. (1995)

Matthew John Evans

The project "North Pocono Environmental Area" utilized 18 acres of wooded land to develop an environmental study area which included the making of: amphitheater(large group instruction), trails, bridges(crossing creek and wet areas), bird blind and feeder stations, tree ring story, soil pit, H20 study site and benches for observations. (1990)

David L. Mapes

The "I Have the Will - You Have the Way" project's theme is to demonstrate to participating students and faculty that an individual's actions are a reflection of his/her wants and goals. Curriculum changes from the traditional approach to an individualized fitness/fellness lifestyle approach. (1993)

Patricia A. Oravetz

"TALES: Teaching Activities for Librarians, Educators and Students" is an innovative program using the library for the academic development of students. Staff development is also featured. (1992)

Concetta (Tina) Petrone

The "Eco-Science Institute" program will introduce a macroscopic study of environmental ecology to prepare high school students for viable job opportunities. This school-within-a-school program will be incorporated into an expanded curriculum, and laboratory facility. Community support will be utilized. (1991)

Margaret A. Rhodes

"A Staff Development Proposal Based on the Good and Grouws Method of Math Instruction" project includes a sabbatical for continued education, refinement of math curriculum, and staff development. (1990)

Daryle Crew Roboch

"The Effect of Drawing on Language Development of Young Students" is a sabbatical research project that will demonstrate the value that image-making has for young children. (1992)

Douglas Randall Ross

"The Philadelphia Area Summer Science Institute" will improve science education by developing an easily replicated model of science curriculum. A network of mathematics and science teachers will be formed to develop materials for the use in the summer enrichment program for minority students. (1991)
