The "Helping Hands-On Science" project focuses on creating a building-wide science lab program which may solve the problems many elementary school teachers face because of their lack of time, space, equipment, and science background needed to engage their students directly in hands-on science. The project examines an effective teaching model for science instruction. Sample some activities drawn from readily available resources. Practice a cooperative learning format. Learn how to set up an activity once and make it available for fifteen classes to use. Gather tips for using parent volunteers to support your program. (1994)

The projects' "The Mentor Connection: Supplying the Missing Link" goal was to implement and enhance a hands-on, experiental, and field work approach to science in the elementary classroom as well as develop possible future teachers. This was done by creating Temple High School science class mentors consisting of Juniors and Seniors. During the school year the high school students were divided into teams and sent into 18 classrooms serving approximately 450 elementary school students. (1990)
