Description of your school: Public school of 1050 students which includes 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Classes are held from 8:30 am to 3:36 pm Subjects taught are science, math, English, reading, social studies, health, physical education, band, orchestra, chorus, industrial arts, home economics, Spanish, German, and French.
Competition will be held on an all weather track for running events and
grass for throwing events.
Class sizes are usually 25-28, but band, orchestra, chorus, and physical
education are larger.
Description of your community: Urbana is a community of 30,000 in east central Illinois. We are two hours west of Indianapolis, Indiana and three hours south of Chicago. The most popular attraction in our community is the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We have many cultural events in town due to the University.
Description of sports done in your school: At UMS students can compete in several sports. Basketball is available for boys and girls in the fall. The girls' teams have won the state competition twice in the last four years. Volleyball is available for girls in the winter. Track and field is the competitive sport for boys and girls in the spring.
