Description of your school: Urbana Middle School is a school of 1150
students in a university town.
We are a 6-8th grade public school. School begins at 8:30 am and
finishes at 3:36 pm.
Students are on a team, school within a school concept, and take
English, math, science, reading, and social studies.
Elective choices are art, band, chorus, orchestra, French, Spanish,
German, industrial arts, and home economics.
All students are required to take health and physical education.
We will throw the tennis ball on grass, perform standing long jump in
the gym and run the track events on an all weather track adjacent to
our school.
Most all classes are 30 or fewer.
Description of your community: Our community of Urbana is home to the
University of Illinois.
It is not a large city, only 35,000. There are many activities in
which one can participate. There are cultural events and sporting events
in abundance.
Our parks are wonderful places to play and relax.
Description of sports done in your school: Urbana Middle School offers
volleyball, basketball, and track and field for girls.
Boys may participate in basketball and track and field.
The park districts or sports clubs offer football, soccer, and wrestling.
