Description of your school:
L-WHS is a public school. It is part of the Cleveland Municipal School
District. Our schools are under control of the city's Mayor. Our building
is large, three-storied,and rectangular. Classes average 25 students. Our
school has the largest bi-lingual population in the state. Our school
community represents every continent except Australia and Antarctica. Hours
are 8:00-2:30. We have tutoring after school for 2 hours. The school is used
as a neighborhood center for specific activities from 6-8 three nights a week.
We will compete on the indoor track.
Description of your community:
Cleveland is slightly under 1/2 million people.It is an urban area with
a very long shoreline. We are on the southern shore of Lake Erie. Popular
attractions include boating, kite flying, and using the metropolitan parks.
The professional sports teams include the Cleveland Indians (baseball), the
Browns (football), the Barons (hockey), the Cavaliers (basketball), the
Rockers (WNBA basketball), and the Crunch (soccer). Cultural centers include
Playhouse Square, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Museum of Art, the Great
Lakes Science Center, and the Botanical Gardens. The are several
universities and colleges here with outstanding programs in education,
cultural activities, and sports. There are also many ethnic festivals
throughtout the year.
Description of sports done in your school:
L-WHS has the following sports: football, track, baseball, softball,
soccer, golf, and basketball.
