Description of your school:
Lamar is the oldest public school in The Woodlands. We just had our 30th
Anniversary Celebration !! We have no gym so 90% of the time we are outside
in the heat or "cold" of our Texas weather! We do many recreational
activities - basketball, volleyball, tennis, golf, lacrosse, soccer,
jump rope, chinese jump rope, etc. as well as the normal lead up games
and activities of an elementary school program. We also perform during
the high school basketball half time and participate in a Cupstack
Tournament here in The Woodlands. We are anxious to be participating in
the TeleOlympics again this year. We have done this for MANY years and the
studentas look forward to competing via the internet.
Description of your community:
This was the last year The Woodlands hosted the Shell Houston Open (golf
tournament) and we were fortunate to be able to take our 3rd and 4th grade
classes. We have narmally just taken the 4th grade but because of it being
the last year, we were able to take both. We live about 25 miles from Houston
so have the opportunity of being close to a big city and all that it offers.
