Description of your school:
Lamar is a public school in the Conroe Independent School District locates about 30 miles north of Houston, Texas in The Woodlands. We attend school from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM Mon. - Fri. Aug - May.

The students have a regular elementary school curriculum (math, science, social studies, reading, writing, music, art, physical education).

We have done the TeleOlympics for MANY years, We have found that doing the preliminaries at school during PE class, picking the top 5-6 students in each classification for each activity, and then taking these students to the high school for a final "track meet", works the best for us. The cross country boys at the high school along with their coach is a great influence for our students.

Description of your community:
The Woodlands is a great communittee in which to live. It has hundreds of miles of hike and bike trails, many "villages", different types of housing, and LOTS of things to do. Being so close to Houston is also an advantage for us. Right now the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo is going on so many of our students are going taking advantage of it.

We have tennis courts, swimming pools, and recreation centers throughout The Woodlands along with a River walk area, a mall, motels, hotels, restaurants, a Pavillion, and theaters. Lots of things to do.

We also have a man made lake that where people can do boating activities. The Woodlands has 7 18 hole golf courses so we golf a lot !!!!The Womens LPGA will be coming to The Woodlands in Oct. for one of their tournaments.

Description of sports done in your school:
During PE we do the basic elementary activities (movement, lead up games, rhythms, gymnastics, throwing, catching, jump rope, ETC.) We also incorporate the curriculum and learn the basics for golf and lacrosee; we do cupstacking; volleyball, basketball, flag football, etc. (too many things to list!)

Good luck to all !!! in the TeleOlympics.
