We start school at 8 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.. Our kindergarteners attend only for a 1/2 day session. Students are taught Math, Language Arts, Science, Health, Social Studies, Art, Music and Physical Education. Our school population is 526. Oak Ridge Elem. sits back to back with our local Jr. High and we are able to use their track and football fields for this competition. Our physical education classes average three classes, which is about 60-75 students.

Description of your community:
Oak Ridge sits among the tall pine trees in South Montgomery County. We are 30 minutes North of Houston, Texas and 1 1/2 hours from Galveston, Texas. We currently have 3 Elementries, 1 Intermediate, 1 Jr. High and one High School that completes our feeder system. Our students are excited this week because of the County Fair. We have students that will show animals and compete in other types of fair activities. The city of Houston has just completed one of the big attractions of the year, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. This lasts two weeks and draws hundreds of thousands of people and dollars that will be used to fund scholarships for students. This is the largest indoor rodeo in the world.
We are also 30 minutes from Lake Conroe. A very large man made lake that we are able to use for fishing, skiing, boating, etc.
We are prodominately White, with about 1/3 being Hispanics and African American.

Description of sports done in your school:
We do not have any organized sports at this level. In P.E. the students are exposed to all types of sports and activities such as football, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, fishing, running, bowling, tennis, etc.
