Description of your school:
The Huckleberry Hill Elementary School is a public school located about 20 miles north of Boston.This K-4 school currently houses 17 classrooms with an average class size of 21. Students attend school from 8:30-2:30 except for 2 kindergarten classes which dismiss at noon.
Our third graders study Ancient Greece and Rome as part of their Social Studies unit. Therefore, we have our 3rd graders participate in this program. We take a 10 minute school bus ride down to our middle school where our town has a beautiful track. We participate in the Teleolympic events all morning bfore returning to the Huckleberry Hill School for lunch and an Olympic Slide show that compares/contrasts the Ancient and Modern Day Olympics. The end of our show shows the students performing from the morning.
Description of your community:
Lynnfield is primarily a residential suburb. We have several professional athletes living in our community because we are easily accessible to Boston.
Description of sports done in your school:
OUr school does not have an interscholastic sports program but we do have an after-school sports program where students can sign up to participate in team activities. OUr students also participate in physical education twice a week for a total of 75 minutes per week.
