1600 m run (for Class A participants only)
Rules:
- All times must be recorded to the nearest 1/100 of a second. (xx.xx)
- If possible, two adults should time each runner and the average
of the two times should be used as the official time.
- Tennis ball throw is recorded to the nearest meter mark.
- Long jump must be recorded to the nearest centimeter.
- Each participant should have two opportunities to throw the tennis
ball and the farthest distance will be recorded.
- All results should be e-mailed to xx142@nptn.org using the official
report format. All student names should include both first and
last name.
- All results must be received by 2400 EST on Thursday, May 16, 1996 in
order to qualify for the International Awards.
- If your school can not conduct the actual athletic events during
May 8 to 15 due to conflicting events, you may run the events earlier.
However, you may not run them later and still be eligible for the
awards. As much as possible within the short time frame available,
try to leave time for bad weather conditions and plan ahead to get
all of your students through the events and the results posted
by the deadline.
Special Wheelchair Participation Rules:
- When performing the long jump, the student in the wheelchair is
allowed one push on the wheel. The "jump" is calculated by
measuring the distance traveled between the starting position
of the rear axle and the position of the rear axle when the chair
comes to a full stop.
- The wheelchair students are to follow the same rules as the
other students for the runs and the tennis ball throw.
- Results of the wheelchair students are to be reported using
the same format as the other scores, but to be placed in their
own classification for each event.
