School Description: Mitchell Intermediate is a public school in Conroe
Ind.School District.
We have approx. 800 children in 5th and 6th grades. Our school is two
years old. CISD is located in Montgomery County, Texas. We are one of
the fastest growing counties in the United States (11th), our school
plans to teach at least 900 children next school year. Our children
attend class in a Learning Community. We call this their "LC". The
Learning Community concept is a fairly new one in our area. Children are
taught by four teachers. There are approx. 85 children in each LC. The
teachers that have 5th graders this year will travel with them to 6th
grade in the fall of 1998. We attend class from 8:45-3:45. The
children have Physical Education class everyday and also attend a fine
arts class (music, art or band) daily. In Physical Education we have
two certified teachers and teach anywhere from 85-130 students per
class.
Community Description: Mitchell Intermediate is located in
The Woodlands, Texas. Our school
was named after George Mitchell, who developed the area which we live in
and has also done alot to regenerate Galveston, Texas. We are located
30 miles north of Houston, Texas. We have several Pro teams in the
Houston area. We have both the Houston Rockets and the Houston Comets
(men's and women's basketball). The Houston Astros (men's baseball) and
Houston Areos (ice hockey) are two more teams that we enjoy watching.
We have roughly 35,000 people that call The Woodlands home. Pine trees,
wild flowers, parks, swimming pools, soccer fields and bike paths can be
found throughout our community. We just hosted the Houston Livestock
Show and Rodeo, the world's largest rodeo!
Description of Sports done in your school: We don't have any school
sponsored athletic teams.
