Description of your community: Slovenia is one of the smallest states in Europe (2,100.000 population), but it has a picturesque countryside with many, many forests, small cities of interesting history and very hospitable people. Its northern part - the Alpine region - is ideal for trekking, climbing and skiing, and to south-west there is the Adriatic Sea. The Alpine region and the Adriatic Sea are just 200 km apart.
Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia, the heart of political, economic, cultural, student and scientific life of the Slovene nation, which its inhabitants have described as a "city of human dimension". Although it has only some 276.000 inhabitants and thus one of the smaller or medium sized European cities, it has everything which cities of a million boast, as well as being the national and republic center.
Beside the archaeological remains from the time of Roman Emona, buildings and artefacts with a tinge of Italian and Austrian artistic style and the work of domestic architects who gave the town an original Slovene image, there are also many things, which tell of past and present cultural history.
