Can you tell me what would cause my finger nail separate from the nail bed other than the possibility of being hit. There is absolutely no discoloration at all to suggest any kind of fungus.

Other causes would include psoriasis, candida (no color...just yeast), allergic reactions to things such as formaldehyde in nail polish. Hope this helps.
