Does everyone have Herpes simplex 2 dormant in their bodies? What causes it to come out? Is it unusual for it to occur on an arm? Is there anything one can do to prevent the reoccurance?

Your virus has been typed as HSV 2? Many people have been exposed to HSV types 1 and 2. I have seen herpes be recurrent on faces, arms, trunks, buttocks, knees, and feet. Maybe someone kissed your arm when they had a cold sore on their lip? There are a few antiherpes virus drugs that you might discuss with your dermatologist (really only two... Zovirax and/or Famvir). You should know the pros and cons of supressive therapy and discuss whether it is right for you based on your history and other medical problems. Hope this helps. Eliot
