Psoriasis is a skin condition where the cells multiply too fast and don't mature just right so that a person gets a buildup of scale on top of red areas on the skin. common sites affected are the scalp, knees, elbows, belly button, and intergluteal fold (between the buttocks). Finger and toenails can also be affected with tiny pits, separation of the nail from the nail bed, color changes, and buildup of scale under the nail. The National Psoriasis Foundation is a great resource. If you call any dermatologist (or my office), we'll mail you the address or a pamphlet with the address. Hope this helps. I beleive that any psoriasis patient will benefit from a good dermatologist with a handful of tricks up their sleeve(s). Eliot --
