My question is this: does anyone suffering from Rosacea have any good experience with using sulfacet-R (sodium sulfacetamide) as opposed to other "sulfur" based rosacea treatments? Any additional information in general relating to rosacea and topical treatments is requested. Thank you in advance.

REPLY -----------

Sulfacet-R is a great sulfur-based treatment for rosacea. Novacet and other compounds are similar. Sulfacet comes with a tint to hide the redness if that's important to you.

Other common treatments for rosacea, if that's what you or someone really has (sometimes it is tough to distinguish from routine acne or I think they both can occasionally occur together) are Metronidazole (topically in a preparation called Metrogel) with or without systemic antiobiotics (commonly a form of tetracycline to start).

I tell folks with bad rosacea to avoid very hot showers, spicy food, and alcohol to minimize the blood vessel dilation on their faces. Good luck.
