please send as much information on foliculitis as possible. We are an AIDS housing program. A resident has been diagnosed with this condition and would like the information for himself

Answer ----

Folliculitis just means inflammation (itis) of the follicle (hair follicle). It often results in red bumps, sometimes with pustules (like the common "zit"). The cause is often bacterial, but especially in AIDS patients, can be caused by a variety of yeasts and even fungi. Thus, the resident/person should be checked by a doctor comfortable looking at skin.

Hope this helps. Eliot
