My 6 year old son has a rash on his hip. It has been there for aproximately 2 weeks and does not appear to be going away. My wife and I are wondering if it could be ring worm. How can we I.D. ring worm?

Answer ----------

Any dermatologist can scrape it and look at the slide with potassium hydroxide and give you an answer in 5-10 minutes (usually). Don't put anything on it before going and do not bathe that day before going to get a good test result. Sometimes cultures are necessary. There is no good way for you to do a home test. Sorry. Eliot
