If a cyst re-appears on your tailbone that was removed by surgery about 15 years ago what can be done to prevent it from ever coming back again? I had this P.......? cyst removed and it didn't heel correctly so it was operated on again about a month later. I haven't seen a Dr. yet this time but I'm sure it's the same thing again. There is a small slit that bleeds now and then. Is the procedure the same or is there a better way now ?

Answer ----------

You are not going to like this answer, but the only thing to do is try again. The doctor will take special care to try to get it all out now. Pilonidal cysts can be tricky. You may want to consult a general surgeon rather than a dermatologist on this one. Hope this helps. P.S. You absolutely should seek medical advice, because there are some serious problems you can get into if not treated appropriately. Eliot
