I am 35 years old and in good health. I exercise and eat very healthy. I am suffering from a sever case of chronic Urticaria. I have been suffering for 5 years, but for the past 2 years it has become wrst than ever. I have been to allergist but they could not find anything that I a am allergic to. I used Seldane for six months and did not help much, then I started using Claritin and it did not help much. It seems like my body is not responding to any anti-histimine. Any suggestion will be appriciated.
Answer --------------------
Very tough problem: Chronic urticaria (hives that last a long time). Call around your area (especially universities) and see if there is dermatologist with interest in hives. If that fails, see respected dermatologist and be prepared to go through possibly renewed bloodwork and a trial of different antihistamines with occasional courses of steroids. MOST IMPORTANTLY, make sure you get a complete physical exam by your primary care doctor looking for the possibility of a hidden cancer (this is a "bad" thing that can be overlooked and can stimulate the body to react with hives). Good luck....This is a tough problem. Eliot
