I am 17 years old and have had mild stubborn acne for the past 4 years. I have been on and off different types of medicine, both otc and prescribed, but nothing really takes care of it. I am currently on .05 Retin-A cream, and have been using it for about 4 weeks, along with minocylcine 2x a day. For the Retin-A, how long will it take before it really clears up, and is it really true that it gets worse before it gets better? My cheeks seem to be clearing up a bit, but my chin and mouth area is still inflammed. Also, do you know of any good sunscreens that won't make me break out to use this summer? Thank-You!!
Answer ---------------------
Very tough to comment on speed of response without seeing you. Sounds like you are on good therapy and probably from a dermatologist so you should be able to ask them their opinion. With respect to sunscreens, look for a gel or solution (both alcohol based) or a product that is clearly labeled as "non-comedogenic" (does not form blackheads or whiteheads). Good luck. Eliot
