I am looking for information on autophonia. I was diagnosed with it
several years ago and told that there wasn't much that could be done.
Is this true?
Thank You.
Answer ----------------------------
Autophony refers to an auditory phenomena in which their is an increase or a perceived increase in the resonance of one's own voice or other bodily sounds such as breathing or arterial pulsations. The symptom may occur with outer or middle ear conditions which alter the conduction of sound energy into the middle ear or it may occur with nasal or sinus conditions which actually change the natural resonance of one's voice.
