I have been taking HUMIBID LA, 2 caps twice a day, for chronic mucus build up on my vocal chords and upper nasal passages. I have noticed that at least two or three of these caplets per day are passing in my stool without dissolving. I placed a fresh caplet in water overnight and it developed a sticky gel like outercoating just like the ones in my stool samples. I do take a lot of steroids for my existing muscle condition. Any ideas why these are not disolving ? Many Thanks

I haven't run across this problem before and I prescribe Humibid or generic forms of the medication frequently. It is recommended that you take the medication with a full (8 oz) of water. Many patients complain about the large size of the Humibid LA pill. An alternative is Humibid Sprinkles, which is the same medication (guiafenesin) in a capsule form. The capsule, which contains small beads of the medication, can be opened and emptied into a spoonful of pudding or applesauce, then swallowed.
