vacuum sinusitis headaches. I need help in managing the pain. Any suggestions?

Reply: -------------------

If such headaches are frequent and especially if difficult to alleviate with over-the-counter medications, I would certainly recommend consulting with your family physician or an ENT specialist.

If headaches are clearly related to sinus conditions treatment might include the use of systemic decongestants (Entex, Guiaifed, Deconsal, etc), short-term use of topical nasal spray decongestants (Afrin, neo-synephrine), long-term use of topical nasal steroid sprays (Flonase, Rhinocort, Nasacort, Vancenase, etc), and/or anti-inflammatory medications (Advil, Nuprin, Alleve, etc.). Surgical therapy is occasionally recommended for chronic sinus or nasal conditions associated with headache when non-surgical measures fail. The exact regimen appropriate for you would depend on a detailed evaluation as to the exact cause of your headache.
