What I thought was a cold about a month ago, is still lingering on in my head, causing major headaches, ear pressure and pain. It seems I get one of these "colds" every Fall without fail. I have no nasal obstruction and can breathe easily, just an occasional tickle in my nose like I'm going to sneeze. When I lie down to one side, I can sometimes feel fluid draining. This occurs mostly on one side.
Could this be a cold turned into sinusitis, or allergies? Over-the counter medication doesn't seem to help. Many years ago I had a doctor tell me I had a deviated septum. Does this condition get worse with age?
Thank you,

Most likely you are experiencing a viral upper respiratory infection that has evolved into a sinus infection. When symptoms of an upper respiratory infection linger on after 1-2 weeks with head pressure felt around or behind the eyes or cheeks, in the ears, and particularly when associated with aching in the upper teeth, consideration should be given towards antibiotic therapy. Other important treatment measures might include humidification, fluids, decongestant medication perhaps combined with expectorants, and anti-inflammatory agents such as ibuprofen. Nasal septum deformities are usually associated with significant obstruction to nasal airflow that is present even in the absence of inflammation such as that which is present with an upper respiratory infection. However, mild septal deviations that are asymptomatic for the most part, may play a role in prolonging ordinary viral upper respiratory conditions such as the common cold.
