What is the best treatment for the inverted papilloma.

Reply: ---------------------

The primary treatment of choice for inverting papillomas is surgery. The surgical approach is somewhat dependent upon the extent of the problem and ranges from endoscopic removal to more extensive open approaches requiring incisions (either on the side of the nose known as lateral rhinotomy, or under the lip and inside the nostrils known as mid-facial degloving). The role of radiation therapy is somewhat controversial but might be considered in cases of recurrence after surgical therapy or in cases where the growth has extended into the cranial cavity through the roof of the sinuses.

I have previously discussed this condition in previous responses which may be accessed in the "review" section of the ENT clinic under the heading "recurrent inverting papilloma" and "inverted papilloma".
