Dr. Steve Dankle,

I am a 51 year old white male that has been told that I have focal cervical dystonia with abnormal eye tracking, and head treamors. in conjunction with this I have been told by any onocologist that in both arm pit regions lymph nodes are enlarged. He ecommended removal of these nodes to determine if s possible lymphoma exists. Allso many years ago I had a STD called Condyloma, could this past problem with this STD be related to the conditions that are now present? any information you could give me would be greatly appereciated.

Respectfully

Your primary question seems to be whether a prior STD could cause the symptoms you describe. I am not aware of any association between STD's and cervical dystonia. In fact, cervical dystonia is a poorly understood condition that is thought to be due to a disorder in the brain stem of the central nervous system that results in disorderly or chaotic neural discharges in the motor endplate of a muscle thereby causing involuntary muscular movement. The current treatment of choice is injection of the affected muscle with botulinim toxin type A. I am also not aware of any association between lymphoma and cervical dystonia. It is possible that the lymph node enlargement and the dystonia are unrelated. I would concur with the previous recommendation to consider a biopsy.
