I HAVE RECURRENT SINUS PAIN /PRESSURE WHAT SHOULD I DO.
Reply: ---------------------------
It depends on what you mean by "recurrent" and what measures you have tried to treat the symptoms. Occasional sinus discomfort from environmental irritants/allergies or viral syndromes such as the common cold can often be successfully managed with increased fluid intake, bedrest, analgesics such as tylenol, ibuprofen, or aspirin, and over-the-counter cold and sinus medications (eg Sudafed, etc.) Short term relief of sinus discomfort attended by acute nasal stuffiness can often be effectively relieved with the use of topical decongestant nasal sprays such as Afrin or Neo-synephrine spray, but the use of these sprays should be limited to no more than 3 consecutive days. Nasal saline and general humidification are also frequently helpful. If these measures fail to provide adequate benefit, then I would consult with your primary care physician.
