I have pressure in the head and ears nearly all the time. It seems to get worse under stress and I notice that my chest and back hurt during these times. If I take alka seltzer cold medicine it seems to help considerably. Do I have a sinus or allergy problem that needs to be looked at. I'm a smoker and I had surgery for collapsed lungs on both sides back in 90. I have quit smoking on several occassions and it doesn't help. I'm sure smoking doesn't help it and I keep trying to quit but it's hard. Most of the time when these symptoms exist my nose is stopped up. It doesn't matter what season it is ,it's always there. Is it safe to take alka selzer every day and if not what can I do???

It is certainly possible that sinus disease and/or ear disease could be the cause of your symptoms. I would suggest an evaluation by a physician. Occasional use of over-the-counter cold, sinus, or allergy medication for management of sinus, ear, or nasal symptoms can be appropriate. However, they are not intended for regular use without an evaluation by a physician.
