Please help! For five years I have been experiencing an "off balance" sensation. My head just feels like it is swimming. I have this feeling most of the time that I am standing or walking and on top of this I have sudden attacks of intense off balance sensations. It is as if a giant magnet is pulling my head to the ground. this feeling usually only lasts a few seconds and happens usually once or twice a day. I have also noticed that the sudden rush feeling a person gets in an elevator will happen to me over and over again for several minutes after getting off the elevator? Sometimes after a car is stopped I feel as if it is still moving. Got any ideas? I have been to many doctors -- no luck!

This type of symptom could be related to an inner ear disturbance or a neurologic disorder. If you have had a thorough physical examination by your primary care physician and a cause is not readily identified, specialty consultation with an otolaryngologist or neurologist would be advised.
