I currently and have had for the past 2 weeks tooth pain in the right upper and lower rear molars, wisdom are out, along with pressure in upper right sinus. Initially had yellow discharge when clearing nose, only out of right nostril.
I saw the dentist and they initially suspected a bad filling in lower right rear, put in temp. Pain continued and moved into upper right rear teeth.
GMD gave amoxicillin x10 days x3 times day and deconamine x3 days x2 times day along with Motrin 800mg x3 tiems day. Pain subsides under meds but comes back after Motrin wears off.
Finished Deconamine and still have tooth pain and slight pressure in upper right sinus area with occational slight clear drainage.
Help with any suggestions. No known allergies. 39 year old WM.
Thank you.

Your symptoms are suggestive of persistent sinusitis. The initial medications you were prescribed are quite appropriate for acute sinusitis. If the diagnosis is fairly certain, most physicians would recommend another course of antibiotics using an extended spectrum antibiotic when the initial course of antibiotics fails to eradicate the problem. Extended spectrum antibiotics would include newer generation cephalosporins such as Ceftin; macrolides such as Biaxin or Zithromax; beta-lactamase inihibitor-pencillin compounds such as Augmentin; amongst many others.
