Hi,

After riding a bike my wife got the following symptoms:

- extremely dizzy (had to sit down)
- acute nausea
- "saw gold", couldn't see anything ahead of her, could only make out shapes
on the periphery of her vision
- shortness of breath
- feeling very hot with a sweat
- lasted about 5-10 minutes

She had been riding at a relaxed pace on a relatively cool, dry day.

She has also had similar attacks when at softball try-outs (sunny, warm, dry day), when riding a bike in a circle (when she was young, sunny warm day I think she said) and putting pamphlets on windscreens in a parking lot (warm, sunny day, actually passed out).

She only seems to get these attacks sporadically as she can go to the gym and use the bikes and treadmills their with no problems. She also has mild asthma.

It seemed to us to have something to do with exercise/body temp and motion.

She doesn't like heights as she gets dizzy and can't turn around quickly without losing balance.

Any suggestions would be great so we can see our local doctor with some kind of understanding of they might need to know. She has been previously told not to worry about it.

Thanks in advance,

It is possible that these symptoms could be caused by an inner ear disturbance. However, there are a number of other possibilities including vascular, metabolic, or hormonal disturbances. Consultation with your primary care physician is appropriate.
