During a three-day out of town convention trip with my wife last weekend I awoke Sunday morning with a yellowish pasty film on my tongue. Two days later, it has alleviated somewhat but I am very concerned. There is no bleeding or discomfort but very minor pain in back of throat (like a coming sore throat).
This problem is more annoying than serious (I hope) and does not interfere with eating or breathing. I am 43-year-old male; last annual phyisical was fine; am non-diabetic, non-smoker, non-drinker, not HIV (have only had sex with my wife since 1983).
This problem sounds like oral thrush that I have heard and read about in news media but I feel fine otherwise, no fatigue, no loss of apetite, no fever, etc. I have made an appointment to see my doctor next Tues. (July 1).

It sounds like a mild case of pharyngitis or stomatitis. It may be of infectious nature although candidiasis (thrush) would probably be unlikely unless you have had any recent antibiotic therapy. It could be dietary related or even dental related. Persistent symptoms of this nature may warrant an exam by your physician with a throat culture.
