As a layman, i ask for some data or other finding about the danger of sitting too close to a television screen.

At present, I am not aware of any conclusive evidence that suggests that sitting too close to a TV poses a health risk. The only exception to this relates to color televisions produced before 1970. Some of these sets have been found to emit radiation in excess of current guidelines.
