Dear anonymous,
You asked: "What is the significance of adrenal tumors on the control of hypertension?" That is an important and intriguing question. I need some context in order to answer it succintly. Are you a patient with high blood pressure who had a CAT scan for some other reason which show adrenal tumors; or do you have a family history of adrenal tumors and recently diagnosed hypertension? Are you in the medical professions and have a friend, family member, or patient with a scenario? Are you a student writing a paper on the question above?
Adrenal tumors are sometimes a cause of secondary hypertension. Essential (primary) hypertension causes an overwhelming majority of cases of high blood pressure. Its cause is uncertain, but it runs in families and is aggravated by obesity. The are many causes of secondary hypertension. Certain adrenal tumors produce adrenaline-like hormones that cause blood vessels to constrict and the heart to pump more forcefully.
Please respond if you want details on your case.
