I am fairly desperate about some warts. I have been treated for warts on my right hand for several years. I began treatment for a clump of them near my knuckle in January 1995; for 11 months I went to the dermatologist every 2-3 weeks for treatment. For many months he used the freezing (cryo) method; they would blister, be raw, heal, then we would do it again. Finally, for the last 3 months or so, he tried "hyfercation" on them, which was very pain- ful unless he injected anaesthetic. After 11 months of a raw, leaking hand, I gave up. Now the warts are getting really large again, with a new one on another finger. I don't know what to do; I can't spend another year with open wounds on my hand again! By the way, we tried a couple of rounds of Tagamet, to no avail.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I hate warts. Call around and see if any local dermatologists have a pulsed-dye laser that they are using for warts. I've had about 70% success with hand warts in 3-4 treatments. It's expensive but...

Also ask if anyone is doing contact sensitization treatment. This is a method of causing a dermatitis on the wart and this seems to trick the body into fighting the wart off. Good luck.
