I would like a few opinions regarding the use of bicycle helmets for a child under one year of age.
My daughter is 9 months old, and we recently bought a "Burley" bicycle trailer so that she can join my wife and I on our bike rides. She really enjoys the rides, and doesn't mind wearing the helmet. Our pediatrician said it would be ok for her to wear a helmet, but I wanted to gather a few other opinions. After about 30 minutes, her head gets tired and she doesn't watch forward as much, but starts looking down at her toys. I'm not sure if it's because here neck can't take it, or because she's more interested in her toys.
Any input?
Thanks....

Your daughter should continue wearing the helmet when she is out with you, and as she grows, she will get more used to using it. Even without the helmet, at her age her attention span is limited at best, and she probably tires of the bike trip. Her neck is probably stronger than you might imagine. It's great to take her with you, and by all means keep her protected with the helmet, but keep her trips short enough, and save the longer trips for the two of you. Have fun! Bike safely!
